Women Rock Adventure Challenge

4-6 hour multi-sport race

Cheers to all 14 teams who showed up to race!  Race conditions couldn’t be better for April, blue skies, rideable bike course and little post-holing. Thanks to race director Brian Richardson for designing  the course, Darren Hull for setting it and our race day volunteers Steve, Mike and Jim. Race Week Updates:

  • 4-22: Missed the prerace meeting? See a copy of the handout below. Other highlights...
  • Transition area 2 will be from bike to trek. Bring one bin with all trekking gear, marked with team name to be left at TA 2. Things to include...dry top, socks and shoes, extra food and water.

  • The course will be 17 miles biking and 6 miles trekking...with optional checkpoints to extend the course.

  • Be prepared for snow on the trekking leg (little elevation).

  • GPS units or Spots will not be needed.

  • Lighter is better, however, any missing gear will result in DQ. Random gear checks will be out on the course.

  • Max time spent on the couse is 6 hours, anyone reaching the finish line after 6 hours will be DQ'ed.

      4-19: Course is set!! Plan on wet feet, extra socks/shoes recommended. There will be 1 Transition area where gear can be left. Don't forget a bag or bin with team name on it.

      Race check in 8:30am at Mirror Lake Picnic Area - race start at 9am. Race day registration 8:00. Hot water and fire after race - bring after race snacks.

      After a 2 year break Alaska's only Women specific multi sport adventure challenge has returned! 6 hours of biking, navigating, and trekking your way through a course designed to introduce new racers to the sport and challenge the veterens! Prizes, t-shirts, and post race  campfire will be available!

      Date: April 24th 2010

      Race start 9am, race check in by 8:30, meet at Mirror Lake picnic area.

      Where: Mirror Lake Area

      Cost: $90- 2 person team, 120 - 3 person team

      Be at the Mirror Lake picnic area at 8am for race day registration. Already registered, arrive by 8:30.

    • Mountain or cyclocross bikes will work for this race, be prepared for mud, gravel, snow and climbing.
